R.E

Intent

At Trinity All Saints CE Primary School, Religious Education (RE) is central to our identity as a Church of England school. Our intent is to provide a high-quality RE curriculum that enables pupils to explore life’s big questions, develop a deep understanding of Christianity, and learn about a range of world faiths.

Our curriculum is rooted in our Christian values of endurance, hope, trust, friendship, respect and thankfulness, which underpin all teaching and learning. Through these values, we aim to nurture pupils who are reflective, resilient and compassionate, and who can engage thoughtfully with different beliefs and worldviews.

We intend for pupils to:

  • Develop a secure and progressive understanding of Christianity as a living faith
  • Gain knowledge and respect for other major world religions, including Islam, Judaism and Hinduism
  • Reflect on belief, identity, meaning and purpose through enquiry-based learning
  • Grow in respect, curiosity and open-mindedness, preparing them for life in modern Britain.

Implementation

Our RE curriculum is broad, balanced and progressive, following a clear structure that revisits key theological concepts such as God, Creation, Incarnation, Salvation, Gospel and the Kingdom of God, ensuring depth and continuity across all year groups.

Learning is organised through carefully planned units built around big questions, encouraging pupils to think critically and express their ideas clearly. These include themes such as belonging, belief, and responsibility.

We enrich RE through a range of meaningful experiences:

  • Half-termly World Faith Days, where pupils engage in immersive activities such as workshops, storytelling, art and cultural exploration to deepen their understanding of different religions
  • Opportunities to visit places of worship, including churches, mosques, temples and synagogues, allowing pupils to experience faith in real-life contexts
  • Engagement with visitors and faith communities to promote authentic and respectful learning

Our Christian values are explicitly woven throughout RE:

  • Endurance – exploring perseverance in faith stories
  • Hope – reflecting on belief in challenging times
  • Trust – considering faith in God and others
  • Friendship and Respect – learning to value diversity and different viewpoints
  • Thankfulness – recognising gratitude across religious traditions

Impact

The impact of our RE curriculum is that pupils leave Trinity All Saints as thoughtful, informed and respectful individuals who are well-prepared for life in a diverse society.

Pupils demonstrate:

  • Secure knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other world faiths
  • The ability to ask deep questions, reflect and think critically (endurance and hope)
  • Confidence in expressing their own beliefs while showing respect for others (trust, friendship and respect)
  • An appreciation of diversity and a strong sense of gratitude and responsibility (thankfulness)

Through RE, pupils develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, becoming compassionate citizens who contribute positively to their communities.
